Each month, the Chair and District Manager provide reports summarizing recent activities, upcoming priorities, and matters requiring board attention. These reports are posted following the general meeting and serve as a reference for members who want to stay informed on board-wide developments between meetings.
April 2026
Chair Report (Anthony Viola)
I am excited to start this month’s report about town halls. On March 31, we hosted a town hall on charter schools broadly with the thanks of our Youth & Education Committee. The town hall garnered incredible participation from across the community. It demonstrated how the Board can provide significant channels for communication, thought, and advocacy.
We want to keep the momentum up by continuing a series of town halls. In June, we will host a town hall on the Inwood Points of Agreement, specifically tailored to the first 25 points regarding housing initiatives. The Board’s Housing & Human Services Committee will be responsible for organizing this event. Then in July, the Board is hosting a town hall on residential parking, touching on various issues related to this topic. This event will be hosted by the Board’s Traffic & Transportation Committee.
In parallel to these town halls, we’re also planning more events. We kicked off the first stop on the revived Uptown Tours series at The Shabazz Center on April 24. We’re in the planning process for the Board’s Mother’s Day Event, Meet the Board Event, and Orientation. As always, more to come!
