Monthly Reports

Each month, the Chair and District Manager provide reports summarizing recent activities, upcoming priorities, and matters requiring board attention. These reports are posted following the general meeting and serve as a reference for members who want to stay informed on board-wide developments between meetings.

Chair Report (Anthony Viola)

There are a couple of things that I want to chat about tonight. The first item is providing an update about what I’ve been doing these last 27 days since becoming Chair of Community Board 12-Manhattan.

Starting with outreach, we’ve accomplished a lot and have much more to do ahead:

  • In partnership with Ty Fujimura, I’ve updated our website, and introduced a “Newsroom” page for publishing press releases by CB12M and other stories.
  • We’ve established a special committee – the Outreach Committee – for identifying our gaps and making recommendations for improvement.
  • We’ve also begun using LinkNYC tablets to promote meetings and events, and introduced a dedicated LinkedIn page.

We’re continuing the search for a social media consultant, so please let your networks know and feel free to make suggestions.

On governance, we’re continuing to build out CB12M’s policies and procedures, as follows:

  • By January 31, our website will include four new manuals for applicants to understand our process and standards for SLA, TLC, OCM, and Dining Out related applications.
  • We’ve also introduced a Member Attendance Policy that explains, in detail, what the requirements are for members of CB12M when it comes to attendance.
  • Lastly, we’ve completed the work that went into the Chair and Vice Chair Guide, so our committees’ leaders now know what is expected of them in leading the committees.

In addition, committee assignments have been updated across all members, and I’ve appointed four new Public Members to CB12M. The Annual Member Survey is live now through April 30, so please fill that out when you have a chance. And lastly, I look forward to seeing you all next month at Campbell Sports Center for our February general meeting.
