Learn More About ULURP (NYC Uniform Land Use Review Procedure)

On August 4, 2010, over 200 people attended a Land Use Education Forum, co-hosted by Borough President Stringer, Councilmember Chin, other local elected officials and CB2.  The purpose of this meeting was to inform the public about the Landmarks and Land Use processes.

The forum was an opportunity for local residents to learn about the public review process, which is about to begin at Community Board 2.

The Process

The first step in NYU’s proposal is to seek approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission for a proposed 4th tower on University Village. The next step will be the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP). Community Board 2 Manhattan has a formal role in ULURP and reviewing NYU’s applications. It is our responsibility to ensure that the larger community is given a forum to learn about NYU’s proposals, ask questions, and express your opinions.

CB2 takes this responsibility very seriously. The board will be hosting a series of public meetings over the next few months, each focusing on a specific topic that is relevant to the plan and the community’s priorities. This will help us evaluate the impact of the development on our historic neighborhood.
