- * Update on Clarkson’s Street’s NYC DOT’s Open Streets for Schools program for City-As-School and M721 from Sabina Sethi Unni, Schools Planner at Open Plans presented on the Project for Public Spaces Community Placemaking Grant awarded to Open Plans. The proposal for Clarkson Street between Hudson and 7th Avenue South will include moveable gates and a street seat mid-block on the north side of Clarkson. The Open Street is scheduled for school days from 10:30 am to 3 pm.
- Approx. 7 p.m. * Feedback on Open Streets in CB2. For a list of the Open Streets in our District about which DoT has notified CB2, please click here.
- Approx. 7:15 p.m. * Continued discussion of the DoT presentation on proposed changes on Lafayette Street/4th Avenue, East 8th Street, Astor Place and West 13th Street. Changes include a) widening the northbound bike lane and making it two-way from Prince to 14th Street, b) reducing the car travel lane from two lanes to one lane from Prince to E. 9th and from three lanes to two lanes from E. 9th St. north, c) adding left and right turn lanes and reducing some street parking to accommodate these lanes, d) adding an Amenity Zone to the east of the bike lane and e) adding a number of pedestrian improvements including Leading Pedestrian Interval and Split Phase Signal Timing, three sidewalk extensions and nine concrete islands. - After 8 p.m * Presentation by Zach Owens, Executive Director, West Village Business Improvement District on its West Village Streetscape Master Plan, addressing 7th Avenue South between Greenwich Avenue to the North and Carmine Street to the South. (CB2 will focus on the remaining portions of 7th Avenue South / Varick Street at a later date.)
