It provides technical assistance to pantries and\u00a0kitchens,\u00a0helps connect clients to government benefits, and advocates for political solutions to hunger.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>296 Ninth Avenue<br \/>\n(212) 924-0167<\/p>\n<p>The Soup Kitchen partners with several other non-profits and government agencies to provide services to their clients.\u00a0Medical vans, legal staff, HIV\/AIDS outreach workers, and benefits counselors regularly visit the site. Holy Apostles also runs a writers&#8217; workshop and bible study sessions for its clients, and engages in political advocacy.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Holy Cross Church Crossroads\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>329 W. 42nd Street<\/p>\n<p>(347) 852-0274<\/p>\n<p>The Holy Cross Church operates a food pantry. The food pantry operates Saturday from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Maria&#8217;s Kitchen<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>415 W. 59th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0397-7222<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0is an informal feeding program that provides a hot meal and a pantry bag with an additional meal to anyone who comes to their door &#8211; there are no rules for receiving a meal and no other services provided. Clientele is mostly unemployed men but also includes some women with families and some elderly. They serve about 500 meals each month and demand has increased by about 10 &#8211; 15% over the past year.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Metro Baptist Church<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>410 West 40th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0594-4464<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0church operates a food pantry on Saturdays and a clothes closet on Tuesday. The majority of its clients are displaced families living in homeless shelters.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Metropolitan Community Church<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>446 West 36th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0629-7440<\/p>\n<p>The church food pantry provides nutritionally appropriate groceries to People With AIDS Tuesday &#8211; Friday. On Thursdays it also provides a general grocery bag to the first 100 people who arrive. The soup kitchen serves lunches to anyone who comes Tuesday &#8211; Friday, 2-3pm. It also serves a community dinner on the last Tuesday of each month and a dinner for members of the transgender community on the last Thursday of each month. The transgender clients they serve tend to be homeless prostitutes.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>457 West 51st Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0265-5020<\/p>\n<p>Lunch is served Monday-Friday, 12:30 &#8211; 1pm. Food pantry provides canned goods to needy families.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Safe Horizon<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>545 Eighth Avenue, 22nd Floor<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0695-2220<\/p>\n<p>Safe Horizon works with homeless youth up to the age of 23, who are living on the streets. They provide lunch, showers, counseling, mental health care, and medical care at the drop-in center. If clients attend a group they can also receive dinner. Safe Horizon also does outreach, primarily in the Times Square area, via foot patrols and a van and will take requests to send out an outreach worker.<\/p>\n<h3><b>St. Clements Episcopal Church<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>423 West 46th Street<br \/>\n(212) 246-7277<\/p>\n<p>The church operates a food pantry on Saturdays from 9:30 &#8211; 11:00am that is open to anyone. It is now averaging 600 bags of food each week, which is up 30% just in the past few months. During the winter those waiting on line to pick up food are also provided with a light breakfast.<\/p>\n<h3><b>St. John&#8217;s Bread of Life<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>211 West 30th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0564-9070<\/p>\n<h3><b>St. Luke&#8217;s Lutheran Church<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>308 West 46th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0246-3540<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0soup kitchen serves lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The church also operates a small emergency homeless shelter under the umbrella of the Times Square Consortium.<\/p>\n<h3><b>St. Paul&#8217;s House Inc.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>335 West 51st Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0265-5435<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0soup kitchen operates everyday but Tuesday from 7am &#8211; 8:30am. Tuesdays at 10am they operate the food pantry and distribute clothing. They have noticed increased demand.<\/p>\n<h3><b>St. Peter&#8217;s Episcopal Church<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>346 West 20th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0929-2390<\/p>\n<p>St. Peter&#8217;s operates a food pantry five days\/week, from 10am\u00a0&#8211; noon, that serves predominantly low-income families who live in the community, some of whom are homeless. Clients must have a referral and can only use the pantry twice\/month. Additionally, on Saturdays from 10am &#8211; 11:30am no referral is needed.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Salvation Army, New York Temple<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>132 West 14th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0242-7770<\/p>\n<h3><b>Project O.R.E.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>331 E 12th Street<br \/>\n(212)\u00a0780-5436<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0program is operated by the Educational Alliance out of Congregation\u00a0Emunath\u00a0Israel. It provides a range of services to middle-aged and elderly people who are homeless or otherwise isolated. The population served is predominantly Jewish. Project O.R.E. includes breakfast and lunch daily, counseling, a food pantry, a clothes closet, group social activities, and access to phones and a mailing address.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>City Wide<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodbanknyc.org\/get-help\/\">Food Bank for New York City<\/a> to find other food pantries or soup kitchens locations outside of the district.
