{"id":15115,"date":"2024-08-27T17:13:42","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T21:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cbmanhattan.cityofnewyork.us\/cb12\/?page_id=15115"},"modified":"2024-08-27T17:18:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T21:18:48","slug":"community-landmark-preservation-initiative","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cbmanhattan.cityofnewyork.us\/cb12\/community-landmark-preservation-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Landmark &#038; Preservation Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CB12M x Historic District Council<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which sites in the neighborhood would you like to see preserved decades from now?\u00a0 The Historic Districts Council (HDC) is working with Manhattan Community Board 12 to identify buildings worthy of preservation in Washington Heights and Inwood (155th Street to 220th Street between the Harlem and Hudson Rivers.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each monthly submission is entered into a raffle for a giftcard!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Who is the Historic District Council?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HDC is the citywide advocate for all of New York City\u2019s historically, culturally, and architecturally significant neighborhoods. We work directly with people who care about our city\u2019s historic neighborhoods and represent a constituency of more than 500 local community <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">organizations across all five boroughs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why are we leading this work?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Washington Heights and Inwood are underrepresented when it comes to New York City landmarks and historic districts, and we believe both neighborhoods deserve their fair share.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How will this information be used?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HDC and CB12M will use this information to create a list of preservation advocacy priorities in Washington Heights and Inwood that we can bring to the attention of local elected officials and the Landmarks Preservation Commission for designation as Individual Landmarks (single buildings), Historic Districts (groups of buildings), Interior Landmarks (publicly accessible interiors), or Scenic Landmarks (Parks, Parkways, or other green spaces).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What information should be submitted?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are particularly interested in understanding the significance of the places you suggest.
